Shayna and Scott had a gorgeous wedding and reception at the Royal Park Hotel in Rochester a week and a half ago.  After spending the morning getting ready, the bride and groom had their first look, followed by portraits with their bridal party.  The ceremony was in the conservatory, and the reception followed in the ballroom.  Remember Films did an amazing job as videographers, and Angela Butorac of Event Trender made sure the day went off without a hitch.

I decided to host a day of mini-sessions in March…this would be the first time I had done something like this, and I was unsure of what to expect doing so many sessions back-to-back.  I had a blast!  Every session was different, and every subject provided their own unique bit of fun to the day.  I’m definitely going to be doing more of these in the future!

I was able to spend some time up north with Brenda and Diego for their engagement session, and had a wonderful time.  I think their pics turned out great, too!  Can’t wait to shoot their wedding later this year!

I had so much fun on Leah and Brad’s engagement shoot.  They wanted to do their session in January and to do the shoot at unique locations that meant something to them as a couple.  So we started at Cloverleaf Fine Wines in Royal Oak, and then went to Vinotecca Wine Bar in Royal Oak, where they went on their very 1st date!  I love it when couples want to do their session at locations that have special meaning to them.  It allows them to get comfortable in front of the camera so much faster.

I love that I often become friends with my wedding clients…I’m the only vendor that gets to spend the whole day with them on the most important day of their lives, so there’s definitely a bond that forms.  But what I love even more is the chance to photograph an existing friend’s wedding, which was the case for Felicity and Jeremy’s wedding in October.  I’ve known Felicity (Lica) for 19 years, and Jeremy has been one of my best friends for 23 years, and I had an absolute ball shooting their special day.  We started off at the Atheneum Hotel where the girls started getting ready, then headed to The Whitney where they (and the guys) put on the finishing touches.   An intimate ceremony was held in front of the stained glass windows on the staircase, and followed by a wonderful luncheon.   Later, everyone met up back at the hotel for drinks in the bar followed by dinner at Fishbone’s.
